The Journey from Canada to the Pacific Northwest

Born in Toronto, Canada, in 1966, he moved to the United States in 1975 when his father took a job with Wright Schuchart Engineering in Seattle, Washington. This early exposure to the engineering community inspired him to follow in his father's professional footsteps, nurturing a passion for construction and engineering that has underpinned his career.

On the Ice from an Early Age

From a young age, he was an active hockey player, competing in the United States Hockey League and playing as a college athlete at Iowa State University. His love for sports has persisted, significantly influencing his personal and professional life. After leaving Iowa State, he returned to Seattle and completed his higher education at Seattle University, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Finance and Humanities.

From University to His First Job

Upon graduating, he initially worked as an auditor for a pension fund. Although this position was outside his main area of interest, it played a crucial role in his life as it was where he met his future wife, Marnie. He soon transitioned into the construction and engineering sector, taking a project engineer position with Sverdrup Engineering. There, he managed the demolition and expansion of Concourse D at the SeaTac airport, setting the stage for a career in contracting.

His Career Path with JH Kelly

His first role at JH Kelly was as a Field Engineer in Klamath Falls, Oregon. His subsequent positions involved managing significant industrial projects and operations that took him across the Pacific Northwest. His capabilities led him to become the Business Development Manager and, eventually, the Director of Marketing and Business Development for JH Kelly.

In 1999, he accepted a leadership position with Cal-Air in San Diego, where he enhanced his skills in leading sales teams. After four years, he returned to JH Kelly as Vice President, eager to apply his refined skills in his familiar professional environment.

In 2018, he was entrusted with leading the integration of Portland Mechanical Contractors into JH Kelly. His leadership was instrumental in strengthening the company's market presence and enhancing the operational success of the newly acquired entity.

He cherishes his family life, having been married for 33 years and relishing travels with his wife. They explore various countries, immersing themselves in different cultures and experiences. A father of three and grandfather of two, he prioritizes family gatherings and values the joy of family ties. An enthusiastic sports fan and a lifelong hockey player, he competes in an over-35 league in McMinnville, Oregon.
